Over the next few weeks, Fortress staff members will be giving you a look into what they do at the station on a day-to-day basis. Next up is co-production director Marisa Huncherick.
The production office is a busy place. Between my work and that of Jack Cummer, there’s always something going on here! As part of the production staff, I spend most of my time divided between three tasks: writing, recording, and editing.
Every time I write what we call a “spot” (a short piece of edited audio you hear between songs), I think about how it can help create community right here in Grant County, and how we as a radio station can encourage, motivate, challenge, and connect people to each other. Each spot tells a story, and I strive to create stories that point people toward loving God and each other.
Everything I do relates to the others on staff, so I’m always coordinating with them on their production needs as well as training DJs so they can record and edit their own work. I love collaborating with them!
If you spot me outside of the station, it’s likely you’ll find me listening to a podcast (Serial, This American Life, Snap Judgment), reading a book (right now: The Count of Monte Cristo), or cooking up a storm thanks to Pinterest.
